>>AS seems to think socialism is OK.<< Ass has me on ignore so I really don't ask him anything that I expect the answer too. Perhaps he should be asked exactly what field of world leadership that Holland possesses that makes us want to follow their footsteps. Tulips?

Wow a new ism. Now you just have to wait for someone who calls himself a libertarian socialist. Seems to me the phrase is an oxymoron.

Libertarian Socialism
???

That is a very strange notion. I think Ayn Rand just turned over in her grave.

We already have socialism. Just a matter of degrees.
SS, military, Medicare, HUD, Unemployment, Welfare/Workfare, fire-fighters, emergency forces, National Parks, Federal Agencies, NASA, these are all socialism. But we have much less than most countries because our major industries including oil, tobacco, health insurers and so forth are all owned privately. Euro countries have more than twice as much socialism as we do and they are doing very well. In Mexico the government owns the oil industry. That too is socialist even though they have lower taxes and poor services. All countries have varying degrees of socialism. There is no such thing as a country without at least 25% socialism. Even Monte carlo and the Cayman Islands have socialism. So is socialism a dirty word? Not at all. It basically just means you have a centralized government which controls certain services and assets. Because the people want it that way usually. FDR saved this country after the Great Depression (caused by very little socialism and corporate monpolies/abuse) by adding more socialism. To fight socialism is to believe that we never need a helping hand from each other, none of us. That is naive.
