Nokia news excites buyers

Among the few stocks seeing early activity, Nokia (NOK) added 55 cents to $14.30. The Finland-based telecom equipment giant said it would meet fiscal third quarter profit targets. The company added that U.S. handset demand was showing signs of picking up. See Indications.

But, Nokia also cautioned Tuesday it expected its third-quarter revenues to fall 5 percent year-on-year, compared with earlier expectations of 0 to 5 percent growth. See pulse item See full text from Nokia

Shares of Nokia rival Motorola (MOT) also rose, lifted 81 cents to $15.85 on the Finnish firm's news.
