so what do we do? nuke the middle east? after pearl harbor, Roosevelt declared war against Japan. There is no one to declare war against. There is a small number of cells of terrorists, we can go in and take them out, but if we were unable to stop 8 hijackings in one day in our country, how are we going to go in to the devil's nest and find the masterminds. all evidence has been destroyed. this was a very well planned out mission. the hijackers needed to know how to fly a boeing 747 or 767 after, assummingly, killing the pilots. this is a terrible day for this country and the world.
separate from the horrible loss of lives, the damage done to the world financial market is not decipherable at this time. the world trade centers processed something like 1/3 of all financial transactions in this country. we need President Bush to assume a Roosveltian posture, which i hope he is capable of. larry

>whoever is responsible for this carnage is going to pay dearly.

And who is that going to be?

If I knew, I would not be chatting here!

IMO, this is not a time to assume the approach of "beyond reasonable doubt of guilt". "just reasonable" is appropriate.

Way I look at it, if US Intelligence is able to say "reasonable doubt", lets neutralize the group(s).

It can be looked at as "retribution" or "premptive strike to prevent future occurences".

cheers, kumar
