But do you know whether they did or not (no fair asking me or using hindsight in any way)?

You know from history that there were indeed Germans who hindered the military, helped the underground, saved the lives of jews, or were imprisoned for voicing their objections. But while the war was going on, from thousands of miles away, you would not have been able to tell who was who.

Same thing here. Demonize the Afghanistan government if you want, but keep in mind that if we attack civilians as part of our retaliation we are killing good ones along with the bad.
