RE:"I notice lots of folks calling for a stepped up war on terrorism. Yet very few thinking about why so many hate us so much. And that perhaps we have done a lot to provoke such attacks. Like bombing Iraq for 10 years."

One countries terrorist is another countries hero.
They are cheering on the west bank today. Many middle eastern countries look the other way.
There is much hate in the world.
There will be no peace until the prince of peace...

Yes George,

And we dont think what it must be like to be Palestinian when your kids are throwing rocks at the soldiers and they get shot with automatic weapons. The U.S. completely ignores the situation in fact takes steps to make sure that the media focuses on trivia while world tension increases. Because its not good for the economy if we think about what is happening with the rest of the world. And it's not good for our economy if we try to save the environment.

The killing is horrific just as the inaction of the U.S. "leaders".

The answer is not to go kill now in revenge. We must concentrate on making PEACE. That would gain the most respect throughout the world if the U.S. could now step up the action on peace in a time like this.

M.

George,
What's a million dead innocents, more or less? Gas up that SUV with premium, please. <s> (<s>...as in sarcasm, folks)

FWIW, I see that point clearly George. Bin Laden is a hero to much of the Islamic world. I don't see him that way, but I can see their point.

I wonder how many in the USA can agree with not opening up Alaska to drilling while we at the same time allow despots to rape the Arab world for oil?

I recently had an interesting conversation with a very well known and highly successful auto engine inventor/designer. He has countless patents and has invented sold engines that are used today by Ford, Daimler, etc. He told me about his continued rejection by major auto makers of his 450,000 mile, virtually emission free combustion engine. "Sorry, not interested." Ford, et. al. only want gas guzzling engines that break down so that we must buy more cars that use more oil. All in the name of profit. Iraqi children don't buy cars so who cares about them? Only their parents.

It is sad that the world has reached new levels of atrocities. Sadder yet when the only response we as a nation have is to up the ante.

Hi George: Unfortunate to experience this travesty in any way, especially for those who lost their innocent lives today. Most who post and read the threads will not agree concerning any mention of faulty US foreign policy; which we have had to be subject to, as a nation, for some of the last 50 years. I believe that most of our elected officials and public servants mean well. It is unfortunate that some policy decisions are affected by hidden agenda, formulated by only a few, sometimes to the detriment of the US citizen. History may only document only a small portion of the faulty foreign policy decisions. Think we as a nation still intend to practice the theory of Manifest Destiny, etc. This is unfortunate for many. Just hope a better resolution for peace can come from the sacrifice made by so many unknowing people today.

Agree too few ask why so many hate the US so much. Most important is how to educate and prevent this kind of thing from ever to happen again. Just hope this is possible someday.
