I don't believe, as many on the networks are saying, that this was the result of a large operation by some group, rather I believe that few if any, other than the hijackers, at least in the US were aware of what they were up to. I do think it is likely that it sponsored by a large group though. From the few reports we have from people on the planes, after they were hijacked, the people on board were armed with only apparently small knives. This leads me to believe that the hijackers were counting on the knives and training to subdue those on board and take the planes over. We know that there are no weapons on planes so they had nothing to worry about as far as being confronted with significant resistance. It is appears that the hijackers knew how to fly the planes. I believe that as few as a dozen well trained men could have carried this out with just a few on each plane. I know it is possible to get on a jet with a knife as I have done so many times myself although I do run it through the tray so they are aware that I have it. The door to the cockpit is really not going to stop anyone that truly wanting to get through it. These people are not concerned with living or dying so they took a chance on a very simple plan to simultaneously take over several planes and this ended up being much more effective than some master plot that involved many people, explosives, timers and the like. Sometimes it is the very simple plan that works best. Unfortunately in this case I believe it is all to true. My heart aches today. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved in this terrible act. Michael
