Mr. Buschman,

The government of a democratic country represents it's people. It's people, are in effect, the government, therefore when the governments acts, the people act.

To think the US efforts in the middle east are independent of oil interests is quite naive. An addiction it is as it is possible to do without Mideast oil... so characterising the US as in "need" of mideast oil is also narrow minded. There are countless countries where people have learned to manage with reduced consumption, although sometimes forced by tax rates.

What happened today is extremely sad. terrible. It however makes me cringe when I see the effort expended in the mideast and the daily airings of the daily events there whereas I have lost loved ones in conflicts in Nigeria (my country of birth) and not an eyelash raised. Yes, the US cannot police the world completely and therefore it has to focus on where it's best interests are.

And why do you think the US didn't stand in the way of China getting the Olympics in spite of their human rights record?

PS.. Speaking of God and the Bible, I don't preach as I believe God would probably burn down all of wall street and all those that participated in it.. No religeon without sacrifice...

Rashid
