Win,

I'm a little hesitant to point this out, but the US had plenty to do with putting the people who are running Afghanistan where they are today.

I was waiting for the first person to claim that it is really the US government that is somehow responsible responsible. You win the prize.

Joe

Win, Well the volatile mixture left over after the Russians decided to leave has resulted in the Taleban ruling 75% of the place. It is still very poor and abuses women as well as all other religions. The Afghans did this to themselves when the people got sick of the war lords and the taleban more or less walked in and was accapted. Now they are pretty much hated. The Russians as well as the Indians and pakistanis would like the taleban ousted.
