the BBC is just reporting missile attacks, probably cruise missiles, landing in Kabul.

Up until today, I would have offered an opinion on whether or not this was a US action based on the volume of choppers to and from the Pentagon. That indicator worked very well during the Iraqi war. I could always tell when something was in the works. However, since the Pentagon doesn't have a helipad any more, since mid morning today, I have no opinion.

The US has denied any involvement in any attack on Afghanistan. Don't know the facts yet, but let's not jump to conclusions. Afghanistan has many enemies, and some who might not be unhappy if the US were blamed for their acts.
