Earlier this afternoon, driving to the gas station, I saw a young man, in his late teens or early twenties, walking down the street carrying a flagpole flying a large American flag where everyone could see it. I honked my horn and waved and cheered. My older son said, "Mom, you're crazy, but I agree."

I couldn't wait to get back home and put out the big, beautiful American flag that we fly on Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Veteran's Day.

As I've driven around today on my various errands, I've been gratified to see more and more houses with American flags flying, some with several. I even saw a very large flag - 3'x5' at least, flying on a convertible. The driver and passenger had short haircuts and were probably US military. I honked and waved and cheered at them, too.

I hope that everyone who reads this will put up their flags so everyone can see them. And please ask others to do the same. We are all in this together.
