Cowards because they chose to take the easy way out by dying with their crime and won't have to face the wrath of the victims - us.

One of the more tragic stories - 250 firefighters and 200 cops missing after the towers collapsed.

'Coward' seems like a rhetorical device they fall back on. As if we needed prodding to feel more contempt. These guys are a lot of things, but they ain't cowards.
