Do you propose that we should shoot down passenger planes that don't follow their original flight pattern? It takes half an hour to fly from Boston to NYC. Is that enough time to scramble a fighter and intercept? The security lapse is in that practically anybody can get into the country, establish a fake ID, and blow up the place at will, it he has the resources and is willing to sacrifice himself.
