The question that we need to answer is whether this was an isolated incident, or whether it's the first wave of further attacks. If it was an isolated incident, then today marks the turning point up, not down. It will take a few days to get things sorted out.

People who are not from the USA think we are a little weird about our country. When I was much younger, I dated a boy from Argentina, seriously, and a boy from Iran, not seriously. They both felt very ambivalent about the USA.

Maybe people in the "blue part" feel ambivalent, but those of us from the "red part" feel no ambivalence whatsoever. I predict that the turnaround will be strong. I've lived through a few little wars, and seen what happens.

Thought it was dead, but very early this afternoon, I saw a young man walking down the street carrying a very large American flag, just walking down the sidewalk carrying a flag for all to see. I've never seen that in my life before. By the time I got home, several of my neighbors had their American flags out on flagpoles. I put my own out - it's 4'x6', heavy nylon, each stripe is sewn on as a separate strip of cloth, and the stars are all embroidered on in shiny white thread. It's a beautiful flag. Not printed cotton, it's built to last.

As I drove here and there today, I saw more and more American flags in front of houses and businesses. Almost every house in my neighborhood had an American flag out today. I even saw a convertible being driven by a man who was probably in the military with a huge American flag on a wooden staff proudly waving behind it!

Is there any other country in the world that is as proud of their flag? So many of you are from other countries. I am curious. In Australia, are you proud to be Australian?

All the more reason to do everything you can to support our economy now. Like Americans did after Pearl Harbor buying War Bonds, etc. Anyone shorting this disaster is guilty of treason, esp against most damaged companies.
