I would not discount Iraqi involvement. Saddam hates the Bush family. Having Cheney as VP and Powell in the Cabinet has be a serious irritant.

While the suicidal nature of the attack points to religious fundamentalism, the possibility of an aliance between Iraq and the religious fundamentalists can't be ignored.

When asked if it was an act of war, Rumsfeld said yesterday that was for the lawyers to say. Guess they have spoken.

It's not just playing with words either. A declaration of war has practical implications about what powers are given to the Exectutive - and what rights we may have to give up.

I just saw on a crawl at the bottom of the FOX screen that the President is NOT going to seek a declaration of war. So I guess we are just playing with words.
