ST, thanks for the response. No I had no idea your friends belonged to certain race, religion. Thats why I just asked to look at your subset of friends which have Islamic faith. When I said palestine or us, I really meant palestine cause or US democracy and freedom. Which one would be the choice? As you know there are diamonds in the mountains, they are very few. Your friend is a diamond. I am sure, and tell me only one example - which continent/country is peaceful where Muslims live? Saddam was killing his own people and Kuwait's like a butcher and would have used bio/chem weapons if we did not stop him. There is a problem here. Rest of the world benifits by the actions taken by US (may be it has self interest - oil, strategic location, economic stability etc) - but except for UK hardly any other country pitches a dime. Now that need to be discussed. To mention the least, rest of the world economies depend on US and they owe their solidarity to free market and democracy at the minimum. Those who destroyed WTC: If they are religious they have already commited crime. Now they are showing cowardy mentality by hiding. If these people have ounce of guts, they will take responsibility in this 'holy' war. Throwing stone at glass house doesn't take a whole lot. These people have nothing to lose - they have nothing to cherish except for the head full of hatered. Their property, people, society add NOTHING of a value to the world. They do not solve world hunger. I don't think you realize the heatred these people harbinger in their minds and how far deep and how far out they are capable of carrying out these acts. If you did, you would not give me this rehtoric on society and its component. The hatred and ill-manners are deep rooted and as generations get deep into US society, it will be kind of like cancer. I AM NOT SUGGESTING ALL OF THESE PEOPLE ARE BAD - BUT, lets be realistic, take a wait and see approach and have a moratorium on certain immegration policies, jobs and these peoples growth. If tomorrow some other non-muslim-nut does these jobs, he is an equal candidate for focused action as well - provided you know the specific psyche involved and whether this action was religious,faith,fundamentalist or anti-govt etc. There are lot of nuts out there doesn't mean you can't do anything about it. Let me urge all folks on this thread to step back and remove all prejudice (look who is talking :-))! Talk with your Islamic friends (if any) and confirm your own thoughts - who do these people support? Islam or US. The difference lies in - one is world religion other is a country. IMO, country where you live should be the bearer of top priority no matter what religion, faith, race, color you are. Simple test. Stunning answer. I do not have any more answers to religious questions. However I have observed people who follow Islam - the most I have got so far is people looking in disbelief, but you can tell, not a single drop of tear or single word of sympathy or genuine anger, disgust. Yeah yeah yeah, we have mixed up ourselves in the middle east and so on. Next thing you will see is people attacking shortsellers and analysts. If we believe in the truth, we need support from the people. All the people. Country first - religion second. Correct? Looking inside for answers is a great way to understand the situation. However, nobody can ask for such a price without expecting retaliation. Cowards. These are the people who are hiding under Islamic religious umbrella and have no guts to accept the actions. eom

RE. Israel "What did they(Israel) ever do for the US?" Sun, Do you want a list of what strategic allies do for each other, especially during the cold war? Who knocked out Iraqi nuclear capabilty for example?. Communisms spread into the mideast was stopped because of Israel. And actually the Arab people are probably the chief beneficiaries of that fact. "And don't think that I am anti-Jew." When ever i hear this language i know i am talking to a bigot. In your case i will hold off on that charge. I believe you are confused. There is really only one historical question. In 1948 the United Nations partitioned palestine. The jews accepted--the arabs did not. The next day Israel was invaded by every Arab nation. The Palestininian people were unnecessarily dislocated because of the ill fated invasion.. After they lost the war the Arab states deliberately kept the Palestininian people in the worse conditions imaginable. They created the camps. What happened tuesday all comes from this. Where is there a democratic or progressive regime in the arab world? There are none. Arabs are very intelligent people. They have been kept back by their own repressive regimes. And this has led to the hopelessness you talk about which in turn leads to the fanaticism we witnessed on tuesday. Jews and Arabs in Palestine are natural allies. Maybe one day they will come to that realization. Perhaps Sharon and Arafat have been taken to the abyss and perhaps accomodation can come. I prey for that day. mike
