All I have read is that ATC reported a plane travelling at a high rate of speed up the Potomac, heading towards Washington. I do not even know 100% that this information has been confirmed. Also, remember, this plane took off from Dulles. I do not even know how long it was in the air before it crashed. Do you? I do not know how long it had been off course. Do you? I also have not read a single eyewitness report of the plane being seen, let alone a jet tailing it. Perhaps a check of the Washington Post website would help?

Freep, you may have awnsered the question for me. I have flown into NYC more times than I can remember. DC only once.
Dulles is out of DC as I recall. If so that explains it all, I think. I thought they were all planes from Boston going to LA with full tanks of gas. A plane flying out of DC would give very little time for a jet to tail it. It may have only been off path for a few minutes, not 2o minutes.
Thanks for the fact. Thats what I was looking for.

Glad to hear you have accounted for your loved ones.
