From what I understand, that plane was in the air almost an hour before it slammed into the Pentagon. Dulles airport is 20++ miles due west of DC, scheduled to head to the west coast. This plane was well off it's flight path long after the second plane hit the North tower of the WTC.

Perhaps, much like Pearl Harbor, we were caught with our pants down & were still in denial in the ensuing minutes after it was apparent this was an all out terrorist attack. IMO, the genie is out of the bottle. What is important now is what we do going forward. If mistakes were made, learn from them............. or we are doomed to repeat this again & again.
