Yes, the military was unable to do anything about the 4 planes that we know about, but it DID protect the President

i have never understood that concept. The president is elected by less than 50% of the people. The work is done by people many layers below him. He doesnt do any work other than make decisions which 1/2 or more of the country disagrees with. If he dies, the VP is quite capable (or even better although he may notbe good at winning an election) of taking over.
