<<If it is war, then the will of the government is irrelevant since you are at war with it. Ed>>

On CNBC in the last several hours I have heard leaders (like Powell and Bush) and top Senators (like McCain and Kerry) say that this IS war and not the moral equivalent of war. It came through loud and clear when Chris Mathews was doing the interviewing. In Washington they are treating this as if we are AT WAR with Global Terrorists and their supporters. Our Senators were in agreement that this tragedy was unprecedented since a human bomb was targeted specifically at U.S. citizens. All 3 of the Senators were Viet Nam vets (and there were 2 Dem and 1 Rep) but they were united in their view that we're are gearing up for a major global battle against terrorism. Senator Cleland from Georgia said that this savage terrorist act has AWAKANED A SLEEPING GIANT. The world will never be the same again. Terrorists (and their leaders and supporters) can never feel safe again.

Regards,

Scott

Ed, our government, both Republicans and Democrats are calling what happened an act of war.

In August 1996 bin Laden issued a "declaration of war" against the US, because of what he saw as its position as a secular superpower and because of the presence of US troops in Saudi Arabia.

War is war! Let's get it on. Let's do what has to be done.
