Watching the boob tube and an authority on hi-jacking procedures says that if the hi-jacker is suicidal then there is next ot nothing that anyone can do to prevent sure disaster.

I recall a few years ago in a different time and place. I was boarding a local flight when there was a small dispute at the boarding gate. An RCMP officer was escorting an inmate/prisioner. The RCMP officer was armed and the boarding agent was explaining the policy of not allowing weapons on board.

The Captain of the flight appeared at the gate and provided a solution. He stated very clearly that the Mountie would bring his weapon with him and in the face of the prisioner instructed that if the SOB moved one inch toward any other passenger he was to be shot right between the eyes. End of discussion.

If every passenger on the four doomed flights had been handed a loaded weapon at the loading gate....the twin towers would still be standing. And you would not see stewardesses getting their throats slit trying to defend the cockpit with their bare hands.

There would be no glory for a hi-jacker in being shot to pieces by civilians the minute he opens his mouth. He might just as well step in front of a truck.
