Dan,

Interesting rant. One thing that I think everyone can agree with is that to live to live in a multi-racial, multi-ethnic society, a certain level of tolerance is necessary. The fact is there are some people that are not capable of this level of tolreance, and for their sake, and that of everyone else, there should be homogeneous places, where people who prefer that lifestyle could always go to.

Joe

Dan3 Re..Seizing the funding stream that is middle eastern oil sales and using that money to keep US, British, French, Russian, and other troops stationed in the theatre (500,000 to 1 million troops - indefinitely) won't eliminate terrorism. <<<<

I would see no hop of anything like this happening. What could happen though is that all of the countries who oppose terrorism (155 of 162) could easily have a pact that if anyone of them is attacked, the other 154 stop trade with that country immediately, until their camps are shut down and the guerilla leaders turned over. If the country refuses, consider the other 154 in a state of war. The world needs to unite against this senselessness.

Let's face it, the nuts who did this are already dead. From our perspective, these people are sick and "punishing" them is pretty much impossible. They claim material things don't matter and they'd rather die than put up with western culture - and some have them have confirmed such words with deeds. I don't think we can intimidate such people with threats of retribution for what we consider to be misdeeds.<<<<<<<<

True, but many of these people got that way through state sponsored brainwashing. A state who actively discourages terrorism can in most instances control their populations, especially outside their borders. In Palestine, the leaders are using violence to get their ends.

But for those who don't like western ways, we won't bother them, and we won't let them bother us. <<<<<<

But we here in the US are addicted to foreign oil. Many here think we should save ANWR and become even more dependent upon foreign oil. Personally, I think we need to do whatever it takes to get off our addiction to foreign oil. Nuclear, is the only other power source, we have sufficient supplies of, to supplant oil in a large enough quantity to reduce our dependency, without adding immensely to pollution. A thousand, one gigawatt plants could easily supplant enough oil to make a big difference. One pound of uranium is equivalent to one million gallons of gas. Lets get on with it. You take away the middle east's money and you will take away their power; and they will be more willing to cooperate with us if we, not they are in the drivers seat. .
