I think you're probably right. Powell seems to be all over the tube all day long, although from what he says, he also seems to have a large part in making the contacts to build a coalition, which seems to be going surprisingly well. BTW, I really wonder about Rice - my only impression about her comes from her speech at the Republican convention, which was essentially content-less - filled with platitudes and cheerleading, it made her seem to me that she was an academic type with little practical experience - but it could be that she was told not to say anything of substance that could be spun controversially, just to stand up there and be Black and a woman and let that be the message.
