But if you want to focus on the factions which are most unlikely to reach peace, I suggest to you that there is no human resolution to the impasse. The principle item of contention, in my opinion, is the Temple Mount. I am not Jewish nor Muslim so I am, no doubt, missing the nuances, but Jews believe that the Messiah will not come until the Temple is rebuilt on the Temple Mount, according to the specifications God gave them, which they have forgotten. But first Isaiah will come, and he will give them the specifications again, and then they will rebuilt the Temple, and the Messiah will come. They've been waiting, not only all their own lives, but for several thousand years. Faithful Jews pray several times a day for the Messiah to come. In the meantime, the Temple Mount is in the possession of the Muslims - and there is no way that they can take it away without all Islam attacking them - I don't really understand why, but that seems to be the case. You are an educated man - thus, you know that just because you don't believe in something, that doesn't make the belief irrational. Most of us here in the US think the Messiah already came, but the Jews don't. It's a zero-sum game, Kyros. There is no compromise, apparently. I am just reporting it as I see it. Maybe Isaiah will show up and tell them that they can build the Temple somewhere else. Maybe archaeologists will excavate the Temple somewhere else. Maybe the Muslims will decide it's ok for the Jews to rebuild the Temple on the Temple Mount. Those are the only solutions I see. Or maybe Jews will convert to Islam, or Muslims will convert to Judaeism. But I think hell will freeze over first.templemountfaithful.org templemount.org
