Art, even if the countries give up the terrorists, we are not done. The governments who willing supported the terrorists are also, and just as, responsible. They need to be hit hard, too. Casualties of war are unavoidable. Better them than us.

The most intelligent comments on the media last night were made by skeptics, mostly former CIA folks and Middle East experts, who were not sold on the idea that bin Laden acted on his own. They werre interviewed by Dan Rather and Ed Bradley last night. I hope some of you had a chance to see the interviews.

Though he is clearly part of the planning of the operation, these intelligent and skeptical experts believe that bin Laden may be a convenient Trojan horse for Saddam. Bin Laden's previous operations, car and boat bombs, are ridiculously simple to plan and execute. Not so the WTC, Pentagon bombings, and aborted attacks on the White House and Air Force One. They were sophisticated operations which required much more than what bin Laden can offer.

As part of the evidence, they cited the opinion of the Federal Prosecutor who tried the criminal cases against the 1993 WTC attackers that Iraq was involved. The former CIA people were credible, and said that Clinton was aware of the evidence of Iraqi involvement.

Don't be surprised if more terrorism takes place soon. And especially don't be surprised if the evidence reveals Iraqi involvement. If that's the case, they're in for a hell of a response.

Great points, Art. I have a feeling US will go into Afghan and may be some other coutries/territories with missiles and troops. This is what bin Laden wants. He wants to fight US like he did against the Soviet Union. He said this himself: if America wants me, come and get me.
Needless to say, fighting in the mountains is very difficult, just look at Russia in Chechnya or the Soviet Union in Afghanistan.

I think first his assets have to be located and frozen. All of them. But it's easier said than done.

On another note, yesterday I heard on the radio some University Professor (forgot his name), who has studied terrorism for more than 30 years, said that the operation of such magnitude and precision had to involve an Intelligence Service of a government. I wonder which one.

Art, it's time to stop all this terrorist bullshit and do it right this time. A protracted ground war in which most of the nations on earth are on our side is not out of the question. We need to eliminate any government that supports terrorism before civilization itself is eliminated. We played patsy with Hitler and it cost us dearly. We can't make the same mistake this time.
