Hi alan w; Re the Koran and killing non believers. Here's a copy of the Koran, in translation:

islam101.com

Kindly locate the passages that relate to killing non believers or apologize for slurring the belief of something like 3% of the population of the United States. (Not to mention 3% of the brave soldiers who are willing to risk their lives defending your ignorant sorry ass.)

Our problem is with the fundamentalist government of Afghanistan, and the reactionary government of Iraq. We have no problem with the believers of Islam, the citizens of those proud nations, or their religious leaders, except for a cleric or two.

I will fight, but I will not dehumanize the man I kill.

--Must have been the verses on killing non believers that made you put it down Andy.--

do you have the direct reference to that passage in the koran? i'll bet you're referring to it out of context.

in any event: nope, it was my lifelong suspicion of 'whomever' actually 'made' this place we call, 'the world.' i sat there reading and thinking, 'yeah this could all be true but you know what? i'm fairly sick and tired of the catholics and their new testament, or the jews with their old, or here now the moslems with their allah. none of it ultimately puts my mind or spirit at ease.'

so now, 'holy scripture' is actually capricious and arbitrary, whoever G-d really is.

as an exception, the gospel of st. thomas appeals to me. they must have left it out of the canon because it was anti-social and anti-world.

in the end it appears that it's all really like a snake eating its tail.

you know; another interesting tidbit; when i was speaking to the supervisor from mexico, i asked him if he thought qetzalcoatl were returning. his face lit up and he said, 'yes!' i then asked him if qetzalcoatl were the same as jesus, and he pretended not to understand, and started speaking again of how the terroristic attack was fairly complicated...

here's another tidbit for you; in this world, i am coming to believe that in the course of human history, the greater evil always 'wins.' of course, then the 'victors' write the history books and talk of how noble and worthy their causes invariably were...

to me, it all boils down to two things; beauty and terror. ultimately there is nothing beyond these.
