John, you are a true dreamer. <VBG> Having very recently talked to a few fellow techies deeply involved in this particular field (not that I am), I don't see how they can pull it off in this decade; neither can they.

A few related questions:

Why not focus our energy generation efforts on what we already know and have, i.e., nuclear energy sources, to the point where most of the critics would feel at least a bit more assured of its relative safety and cleanliness, and if they don't, let them install windmills and solar panels on their roofs and disconnect them from the national power network? Why should we allow a few misguided zealots to continue to block the only practical alternative--Yucca Mountain Nuclear Waste Depository? Why not build a few huge nuclear power plants in Area 51? (well, there's not too much cooling water there, but nothing worse that had already happened there could ever happen...)
