< "IF we are able to(and i am hopeful we will be ) root out the terrorists as a consequence of these sickening events then there is even some chance that the world could be a better place rather than a worse one down the road,i am optimistic on that score." >

I am not as optimistic. This is not state against state, it's more like groups of people against groups of people on this small planet of ours.

The problems are rooted in ideology, religion and race (in addition to history, environment and economics).

The conflicts we've all watched on TV in the middle east have been going on for a long long time.

It is very scary to think about the possibility of some sort of biological agent being released in a major city one day (They could have carried it on those four airplanes). No one (including me) wants to really think about it, but it seems to me it's just a matter of time. It only takes a small group of people to carry out that sort of terror (as small as one person). In fact, as we all know, it has already been tried in Tokyo Japan.

I generally live my life with an optimistic view of the world. I still do. However, I don't see the root of these problems being resolved any time soon if history is our guide.

Glad to hear you're OK... you, Jim and a few others have been important beacons of prudence in this runaway madness being played out in the financial markets as it has many times before...
