Good post, Allan.

You were mentioning earlier that you were having trouble with the Air Force One story ... so am I, and this piece in the NY Times doesn't do much to change my mind:

nytimes.com

But it does raise another troubling question. According to Safire, Cheney was "hurried down" to the Operations Center at 9:03 by the Secret Service, and on the way "told that another plane, or a helicopter loaded with explosives, was headed for the White House".

For argument's sake, let's make that 9:05, 9:06 (how long can it take to hurry down?) ... now again according to Safire, the incoming plane hit the pentagon at 9:45, some 40 minutes later -- where the hell was the air force all this time? Was there some kind of failure of resolve to shoot it down, even thought it and it's passengers were obviously doomed, given the events at the WTC?

Seems there's a whole lot of spin and ass-covering going on.
