The alliance carried the military burdon. The reason for this was that the Arab leaders who strongly opposed tha mad man in Iraq could not and would not me associated on the same side as Israel while attacking a fellow Arab country -- no matter what the justification. Iraq naturally wishes to see Iran engaged in a shooting war with Israel during any future US action with Iraq. This complication would make it much more difficult foe moderate Arab leaders to stand with NATO in any future war with Iraq. Israel's part in any middle East comflict involving NATO vs Iraq is to do nothing. JohnG
