P: yes, I'm seeing that 'theme' as well in the usual suspect permabull threads.

Run by ... well, hell, I don't know who those threads are 'run by' these days as the 'heroes' fell. Hard.

Those 'moral' heroes, of course.

That baseless hope and faith is still 'sustaining' people who have lost so much money, evidently.

Now, it's a 'patriotic buying opportunity.'

BTW: You may also know that Bill Meehan Cantor Fitz is gone. Sigh. Earlie posted on CFZ yesterday the terrible news.

You can bet your sweet ass -g- that I'm not buying into the faith-based flag-waving 'buy U.S. stocks' anytime soon.

(I think you know me well enough to take that characterization as intended to make you laugh).

In fact, I'm researching shorting the airlines as soon as possible. Puts, that would be.

I want to know what you do when markets open and thereafter. If you don't mind.

Should I start a board or revert to 'Crit Investing' ... thank you, Uncle Frank -LOL- for the name --what do you think?

Names that occur to me off the top of my head today are along the lines of the "save our asses' thread.

Although, that 'profanity' might not quite cut it with the adminstration.

I just received an email from Nasdaq that the markets will remain closed tomorrow. They expect to reopen Monday.

A patriotic gesture would be to donate the "W tax refund" to the Red Cross.

Po,
As you know I'm an American Airlines wife, and I am finding some of the comments about shorting our stock and even some who are saying we deserve to be severely beaten down to "get the message" are extremely upsetting.

No one is more upset than the employees of these airlines. We have lost friends and family. The airline is working overtime doing all it can to assist the families of the victims. Our community, which is heavily populated by AA and Delta families, is in mourning.

To talk about further weakening companies that employ many many thousands of Americans in an already precarious economy is, imo, irresponsible and reckless. Do they honestly believe that this will accomplish more than the horror of this week has already done? Let's not confuse who the enemy is here. The weapons so far reputed to have been brought on board, such as the boxcutters, may not even have been illegal. We're not talking uzis and guns and bombs. There is no way we can secure perfectly, control with absolute confidence. I am convinced there will be changes, the pilots will demand this, the flying public will demand this. But penalizing the companies financially will only hinder the effort.

that is my rant for the day, or hopefully the week.
