That is a problem even if you are in the industry. I have been in technical sales and marketing for about 30 years and have a BSEE and MBA. but that doesn't mean that I get anything close to an easy entrance. You have to prod, plead, circumvent, ally with yourself with people you sometimes like and sometimes don't, and push your way in so that you aren't ignored. Then your success is that someone with 1/2 a brain that has been a cog in the "system" for several years and has never had an original idea the entire time takes your idea and runs with it. They usually give you no credit - they steal every bit of recognition. The sick thing about it is that I am happy as heck to see that happen! you can see it doesn't take much for me to get my jollies. I just want to see it get done and get some of the bullshit out of the way so that it gets expedited. One Congressional aide asked me today "what do you want out of it" and I don't don't know if he believed me when I said "just seeing it happen".
