I think you meant to ask me "if I as a teacher (and former lawyer) look into this...."- and to answer- I bow to the standards of the community. I don't see the role of a teacher to be that of a militant agitator, or frontline social justice worker. I do not believe that is what most parents want. I think our job is to try to be as middle of the road as possible, and respect all children and their families, and their families beliefs- and impose our own agenda as little as possible. Of course toleration is sort of a requisite agenda in order to accomplish toleration for everyone and their ideas. That is the only really huge problem I see. And it can be a problem since some families believe that tolerance is not good- those people will not be served well by most public schools. Other teachers do see their role as soldiers for social justice, and are very far out there in terms of advocacy, and that is their business, imo. I just don't happen to see it that way.
