EP you are a total idiot. Bush won the electoral college votes, it's how Presidents get elected in this country. Get over it. In times of tragedy we need to stand behind our leader.

"Not really the point, is it? Clinton won a plurality of votes and majority of electors. So did Gore."

I wanted to make sure that you knew that the percentage that voted for Bush was larger than the percentage that voted for Clinton in 1996. I see that you switched from a "majority", when describing the 2000 election, to a "plurality" when describing 1996.

Gore did NOT win a majority of electors, or he would be soiling the hot seat right now. Gore's behavior during the election recount business was very saddening. He completely fabricated the events of Chicago in order to convince Florida to change the rules, and his team subsequently admitted this. The American Justice system does not always produce the results we want, but it works. If Gore had not complained about the hand counts that he caused to happen, it would never have gotten that far. If Gore had the respect of the people that know him best -- his home state -- this would have been a different story. And you have no doubt heard that the liberal media, examining the recounts, estimated that Bush would have won anyway had they been allowed to continue.

Represent your party as well as you can, but be honest about it. For now, we have a President, a country, and a job to do. Let's focus on that.

Your comment about "patriotism being the last refuge of scoundrels" could be extrapolated to suggest that you think all patriotic citizens are "scoundrels". I do not suppose that this is the position you wish to take.
