here was obviously a reason for it since they seem to have done everything according to a very well researched plan.

The more I read about this attack, the more convincing it gets that this was well executed operation which definitely requires intelligence support on a massive scale, meaning all their communication was encrypted using the best available technology. Even the NSA chief admitted to fact that it went on for a such a long time undetected.

Could that be that their flights originated from Portland, Maine? To get everything checked in and go thru security in Portland, then in Boston just go across the hall to the gate, bypassing security check. I think American and United both have flights from Portland, ME, to Boston.
