The only logical reason to persue SDI now is to pad the pockets of key defense contractors. The program will hurt any chance of extending an alliance against terrorism by alarming such countries as China and Russia who are prepared to aid us. If state sponsored terrorism is stopped then only states will have missles. These big and unmoving targets will not be eager to send any missles our way. It is foolhearty at best to jeporadize the historic opportunity to bring a new sense of international law to the world just for some high priced make work jobs.

totally clueless Apparently, all of the political candidates, including Bush and Gore, were totally clueless about the nature of the threat. They hardly paid any attention to the threat of terrorism nor did the media.
