Everyone does what they think is best, I guess. Some people think war profiteering is war profiteering, however disguised. Not saying I agree (or anyone here is) but I can understand the feeling and the application of the term to a variety of activities.

Hi, P. I think that no artificial manipulation of the...

...market (sorry, was that redundant?) will provide any lasting effect.

Witness the Fed's impotency via rate cuts so far.

And now, Poet, more talk of .75 basis points cuts.

Has everyone forgotten about the long-retired making ends meet via certificates of deposit?

Again today, I'm so very worried about people.

What are the 30-year-olds out of work from the tech bubble to do/think? Pay their rent, mortgages with?

One million people lost their jobs since February.

Subject 50782

No tech company was (before Tuesday) actually hiring anywhere in this country. Needless to mention those in Canada (JDSU, RIMM, etc).

Think of all of the people who are so highly niched in skill sets in technology.

The electrical engineers ... technicians in R&D labs ... in telecom.

For example.

Sigh. Just writing this post exhausts me, once again. I tend to feel totaly overwhelmed in this market 'downturn' and impact. I wish often that I was stupid. -g- You know, not so aware of how it all works and 'fits together.' Corporate finance / house of dominoes effects, etc.

I've felt this way since the 'beginning of the end' of high tech based national economy as we once knew it.

Time for some CC cookies, looks like, eh?
