I'm finally going to weigh in on this after days of reading everyone else's posts. I wish I could be more positive, but after watching the Frontline special on bin Laden just now I can't. Learning more about the unfolding of his holy war against America over the past decade leads me to agree with Gen. Singlaub that this war has just begun and that in fact it is World War III. While I'm not going to type in all caps like speedy does, I believe that we haven't seen anything yet and that it is going to get ugly beyond imagination. Our enemies are truly madmen who will stop at nothing from destroying us and our way of life. They are most likely in possession of weapons of mass destruction such as suitcase nuclear weapons and biological agents. If I believed in God I would say "God help us," but since I don't all I can say is that only we, and our allies, can save ourselves. I support any and all efforts to protect our people (by "our people" I really mean Western civilization) from the scourge that is fanatical, terroristic Islamic fundamentalism. We need to act now and we need to act with an uncompromising ferocity on all fronts, like a mother bear protecting her young. This struggle is almost Darwinian in its intensity and scope. I share this with you all because I feel part of this community and value you all very much. The human-to-human exchange that is the fabric of the Golden Lists has been and continues to be very valuable to me. I am stating my view here even though it is very dismal because I see this list as a place where one shares one's own truth. I fervently hope that I am wrong about what I see unfolding in the near future, and in fact will rejoice if I am. Whether I am right or wrong I am going to be as vigilant as possible regarding my own and my loved ones' survival and I urge you to do the same. Peace be with you.
