FYI, the major airlines are asking the congress for up to $15 billion of the $40 billion authorized by congress for emergency response to terrorist attacks.

Make no mistake, the airlines will take a major hit as a result of these tragic events. However, the reason they are going broke is because charging enough to cover expenses is not part of the biz plan.

I'd rather give the $15 billion to NY firefighter survivors than subsidize this SI poster. Note first two paragraphs.
