Perhaps we should ask what RATIONAL means? We have followed a path to get where we are. I'd say if I'd walked a path lined with bullies and never did anything that effectively combated them, it is not surprising that EVENTUALLY the bullies shall do something to me. Repeatedly we have failed to treat terrorism as a fundamentally different sort of beast. You can't really kill this thing with tanks or weapons from space (even a huge number of space weapons!) Root causes. We must resist becoming totalitarian in the process of securing our country. That system worked too well in the USSR. I'm totally with on board security agents. Maybe the ATF and DEA be disbanded and redeployed (with same grade and rank) as FBI and sky-marshals. That is entirely rational and is in line with the facts. At least my interpretation of the facts.
