I completely agree that PC is about thought-control, and is about justifying agenda-based censorship. I have contempt for those who knuckle under (when they aren't forced to by exigent circumstances), though I believe many convince themselves that virtue lies in making themselves believe nonsense, if the nonsense is claimed to serve certain constituencies with which they like to see themselves identifying. The effect of motivation on perception.

The religious fanatics of the past can't hold a candle to the modern day university professors and media elite who can end your career your education and do it all the while with a smile.

It is over-the-edge self-indulgent, self-important and self-dramatizing to imagine that what is going on in 2001 in the PC universities and elsewhere is anything like the Inquisition or pogroms or many other instances of religious suppression, murder and terror of the past. Ever seen the torture devices used on "heretics"?
