Jurgen, thanks for the estimates. They look low, but who knows?

An alternate point of view.

Will the major insurance houses, such as Lloyds of London, be able to meet their liabilities? Caroline Warner, London

Yes, but the losses for their names and shareholders will be very severe. A question to which I do not currently know the answer is about the nature of exclusion clauses for wars and terrorist acts in these contracts. If I were President Bush I would state immediately that the US Government would contribute to the cost of reconstruction, as it would in the event of a declared war against an enemy state.

Except that I would prefer the word taxpayer to Government.

In any case, you may be assured that the US Taxpayer will contribute.
