Jerome,

Good post. Doing something along those lines would remove poor children from schools which now teach a perverted view of Islam, and it would also show the Muslims that we are indeed not Satan but are people just like they are. Something along these lines, if done correctly, would do more than any missles or tanks ever could.

As a point of information, many afghans may not like us but most are certainly not Taliban supporters. Taliban was originally part of a coalition to defeat the Soviet puppet state. Iran is the chief Islamic opponent. The US is now working with Iran to get this guy and rid Afghanistan of the Taliban. Working with Stalin to defeat Hitler is a good analogy.
