many on this thread have made it clear that this will be a war and like all wars losse will be incurred and pain will be endured.

Have you stopped to think what the losses may be in a war on terrorism? I don't just mean that someone could get blown up in a shopping mall. I mean that oil disruption could make SUVs a thing of the past. It may be necessary to locate each firearm in the country and check out the owner. A smart national identification card may be issued and required of all citizens, a card which can track each public building you visit and each book you check out of the library. Bush may try to assign some limited objective to the coming campaign, something like capture or kill Bin Laden, and when that is done declare victory and hope his election fares better than his dad's. A war is not over until both sides come to terms or one side is completely unable to continue. The terrorists of the world may come forth next week pleading for amnisty and vowing to join Ann Coulter for bible lessons, but I doubt it.
