Gosh, Pearl Harbor is history,The depression is history, the gold standard is history, charts are all history.
We are tied up in history.Without knowing the roots of a problem how can you understand it and if nessisary eradicate it.Can we learn from the mistakes of others instead of following in their footsteps?
Also have you picked up a history book lately? They weigh a ton and are just the thing to bludgeon somebody to death with.

I don't wish to sound like I am belittling you. But it seems to me it is beyond you that

1. those who ignore the mistakes of the past are condemned/destined to repeat them.

The fact that we are not any wiser despite history is due to the fact that we have ignored the past. There is no denying that many of us don't ever learn (or arrogantly refuse to learn) from our past mistakes despite the fact that experience is recognized as the best teacher.

2. there are always consequences/repercussions for every action, and that action and reaction may not necessarily have to be virtually instantaneous.

It is not beyond the realm of reality that if the leaders and big business fellas of the world are perspicacious with regard to history, many past struggles and disasters might have been averted in the first place.
