"According to Locke, the equality of men derives from the simple fact that no one
person is so decisively superior in mental acuity or physical prowess that he can rule
over others, because even a modest combination of antagonists can overthrow him,
and even one person, by guile, can kill him."

This is a very strange definition of equality (imo). One can, of course, define things any way one likes. But one cannot make other people see the logic of the definitions if it doesn't fit with their conceptions.

I have always disagreed with Hobbes on the impossibility of contracting away our rights. But then I don't believe in inalienable rights either, for I see them as essentially a religious concept.
