IMHO that's a pile of tabloid BS. I don't think it's a good idea to post such stories unless they show up at reputable news sites -- and I don't see it at any.

The website that advances this speculation (not fact) is operated by an ultra conservative group. Thus I would view this with a high level of reservation until further confirmation or corroboration by a credible source.

China was formally voted into the WTO yesterday. I'd like to think that Washington isn't that stupid.

Whoever fabricated this stuff has no clue to what is going on. The Chinese have a huge and longstanding domestic problem with Islamic fundamentalists. They would not finance internal dissension in their own country. They have a big stake in getting a solution to the problem of Islamic separatism in the northwest of China. Their border with Afghanistan may be our best bet to take the "Silk Route" to Kabul overtly or otherwise.
