Hi Jim McMannis; It's probably true that all fascism is similar in certain ways. I think that all humans are similar in ceratin ways, so this doesn't surprise me. I have no problem with that part of the article

I'm not an apologist for fascists. I am repeatedly on record as being in favor of a total and complete victory, no matter what the cost. We are a great nation, and we will have our revenge. But along the way, I just don't think it's a good idea to propagandize the literature read by our opponents.

We are, after all, what the Moslems call a "People of the Book". Like the Moslems and Jews, we are restricted in what we are allowed to do. As we swore as children every day in school, we are "one nation under God." That means we must follow Gods rules, not ones we make up for ourselves. (This is an ideal, we deviate from this regularly.) That's why we will not massacre innocent people (I hope).

The righteous Moslem nations see this the same way, that's why they have condemned this atrocity, and are offering us assistance. What we must do now is reassure the Moslems that we are still a People of the Book, that we will not commit atrocities, and that we will not take more than an "eye for an eye", etc.

There are what, maybe 30,000 Moslems in the US Army? There will be how many thousands in the armies of our many allies? Why should we mock their Book?

As far as alternative translations, there are many translations of every religious book. Here's three more Koran translations. Look up those passages in these translations. You will find that the intention is clear, and the same as the fourth version I gave above:
qurantoday.com (currently not working? Possibly due to a DOS attack?)

The Koran was written as spiritual directions for a small minority in the midst of a violent culture. If they'd been given instructions anywhere as violent as has been suggested by their modern enemies, the locals would have wiped them out before they had a chance to grow. The Koran does not give instructions on how to run a fascist dictatorship. Instead, the Koran gives instructions on how to get along as a despised minority in a larger culture which thought of them as religious kooks.

It's not a long book. Go read it, then freely express to us all what insights you gained from it. But it's obvious that we cannot trust the opinions of others on this subject. There are just too many people out there with a chip on their shoulders, and it is too hard to tell which is which. Go read it yourself.
