>>You seem to be operating under the working assumption that all humans react about the same to things<< nadine, what you wrote was about christians right? they murdered countless people in the crusades. crusade to what? get rid of or control nonbelievers? or are you talking about hitler's germany? how about the US when slavery was en vogue? what about the religious/control conflicts in europe that erupt in disco bombings and car bombs that kill innocents? and you say people are different? ;-) there is a probability distribution of human reaction under certain circumstances (incl govt and religious control). just b/c there is some variation doesn't mean that a lot can't be learned. so, where is the gene in muslims that make them different than the rest of humanity - inherently bad people? this is the logical conclusion. after all, they aren't "the same," right? it is easier to kill/rape/pillage/etc someone the more you believe they are fundamentally "different" than you. it is easy to sit on the seat of the wealthiest nation in the history of the world and say, "hey, what's the problem with everyone else, can't we just get along [while sipping a latte at starbucks]?" remember what the US did when they weren't so well off? they enslaved and regularly murdered people.
