Your reply is self-contradictory. First you say "a lot can be learned", then you accuse me of saying muslims have a bad "gene".

I am not talking about genes; I am talking about culture and people's mental models of the universe. Every act of understanding is an act of interpretation. People react to events according to their interpretation of them. This interpretation is heavily influenced by their historical, religious, and cultural context. People who believe in human rights and separation of church and state do not interpret events the same way as people who believe that the world is divided between the community of the faithful and unbelievers.

Yes, Christians murdered countless people in the crusades. Have they behaved like that lately? No? Why not? What changed? Could it be that the way Europe thinks about the world has fundamentally changed between the 11th century and today?
