Engineers claimed that the WTC twin towers were designed to withstand the mechanical impact of a jumbo jet crash, as well as the heat generated by a "regular" fire (up to 2000 degree F). However, the burning jet fuel in Tuesday's atrocities raised the core temperature to above 2500 degree F, thus causing the collapse of the steel frames/main structures. The towers should be and will be rebuilt. It is part of the healing process - of our national pride and self confidence. Ibexx
